Vintage Sterling Silver "The Republic" Chicago Souvenir Spoon

Offered is a sterling silver souvenir spoon for Chicago, Illinois, possibly made around the time of the Chicago World’s Fair. The bowl has a detailed scene of the U.S. Government Building and Post Office in Chicago.  The shoulders and stem have decorative filigree in the shape of an American flag. The handle of the spoon features the statue of “The Republic” in Jackson Park, Chicago. The back stem and back handle have patriotic decorative elements, like a bundle of faces, crossed American flags, a bald eagle, spreadwing, with a Union shield at its chest, and thirteen stars, to represent the original thirteen states. The back shoulders have sterling hallmarks. 

CONDITION:

Good condition. Sterling silver. Front and back spoon design is legible. Some light tarnish. Sterling hallmarks on back shoulders. 

Dimensions: 1 1/4" H x 5 7/8” W x 3/4” D
