







Vintage Sterling Silver 1893 "World's City Fair" Souvenir Spoon by Relly, Curtis & Co.
Offered is a vintage sterling silver souvenir spoon for the Chicago Columbian Exposition, or Chicago’s World Fair, in 1893. This was a world's fair held to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World in 1492.
The bowl has a detailed scene of Columbus’ ships arriving to the New World with two Native Americans depicted on shore and the date “1492” stamped at bottom. The shoulders and stem have decorative filigree in the shape of one of the many great architectural buildings built for the Fair, leading into the handle design. The Terminal of the spoon is decorated with Christopher Columbus in front of a globe, with a telescope in his hand. The back stem has “World’s Fair City” and “Pat. Applied For Reilly, Curtis, & Co.” and has sterling hallmarks.
CONDITION:
Good condition. Sterling silver. Front and back spoon design is legible. Some light tarnish. With maker stamp of Reilly, Curtis, & Co. and sterling hallmarks.
