The Holy Bible, Containing the Old and New Testaments, Translated of the original tongues and with the former translations diligently compared and revised By His Majesty’s Special Command, Appointed to be read in Churches. London and New York: Collins’ Clear-Type Press, [n.d]. Authorized King James Version. Red Letter Edition. Presentation Copy. Inscribed and signed by President Richard Nixon, presented to James T. Lynn on February 2, 1973. In soft black leather boards, with gilt titles to the front and spine, all edges gilt, with blue ribbon. Illustrated throughout with full color photographs, color maps, and color illustrations.

Presented is an attractive presentation copy of the Authorized King James Version of The Holy Bible, inscribed and signed by President Richard Nixon and gifted to James T. Lynn, a senior member of the Nixon Administration. Bound in black leather with gilt lettering and all edges gilt, this Red Letter Edition was published by Collins' Clear-Type Press and is illustrated throughout with color photographs, maps, and biblical illustrations. The presentation inscription appears on the dedicated presentation page and is boldly signed "Richard Nixon," with the recipient identified as "James T. Lynn" and dated February 7, 1973.

This bible is a personal gift from the President to a cabinet-level official. James T. Lynn was one of the trusted administrators within the Nixon government, serving successively as General Counsel of the Department of Commerce from 1969 to 1971, Under Secretary of Commerce from 1971 to 1973, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1973 to 1974. The date of presentation places this Bible at a significant moment in both men's careers. Nixon had recently begun his second presidential term following his landslide reelection victory in November 1972, while Lynn was preparing to assume leadership of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Richard Milhous Nixon served as the thirty-seventh President of the United States from 1969 until his resignation in 1974. His presidency witnessed major developments in both domestic and foreign affairs, including the winding down of American involvement in the Vietnam War, the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, landmark environmental initiatives, and the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Following the Watergate scandal, Nixon resigned from office on August 9th, 1974. He remains one of the most consequential and extensively studied figures of the twentieth-century American presidency.

This bible is a beautiful edition of the King James text, featuring family pages to record births, deaths, and marriages, extensive color photographic views of the Holy Land by Alistair Duncan, and a comprehensive reference section edited by Rev. David J. Fant of the New York Bible Society. Supplementary material includes discussions of biblical history, ancient manuscripts, English translations of the Bible, the parables and miracles of Christ, notable biblical figures, calendars, a subject index and concordance, and several illustrated pages of “Plants and Animal Life,” “Musical Instruments & Coins,” and “Miscellaneous Objects.” It ends with a series of detailed color maps of the Holy Land produced by C. S. Hammond & Co. The volume represents the type of finely bound presentation Bible frequently selected for official gifts and commemorative occasions.
