"James Bond is Back. From Russia with Love" Vintage Movie Poster, 1965

Presented is an original, vintage one-sheet movie poster for the 1963 spy thriller From Russia with Love, the second installment in the James Bond film series. Directed by Terence Young and produced by Eon Productions, the film starred Sean Connery as the iconic MI6 agent James Bond.

The poster, designed in striking red, black, and white, features Sean Connery as Bond photographed with four women. Bold text proclaims "James Bond Is Back!" while boasting "incredible women," "incredible enemies," and "incredible adventures." Credits for the film’s cast and crew, including the stars, director, producers, writers, and composer, are listed along the bottom.

The screenplay, written by Richard Maibaum and Johanna Harwood, is based on Ian Fleming’s 1957 novel. In the film, Bond is tasked with aiding with the defection of a Soviet consulate clerk, all while the criminal organization SPECTRE plots revenge for the death of Dr. No.

Following the film success of Dr. No, United Artists approved a James Bond sequel with a doubled budget. From Russia with Love first premiered in London on October 10, 1963, and became a critical and commercial hit. It was then released in 16 countries the following year, including a U.S. premiere at New York’s Astor Theatre on April 8, 1964. The film grossed over $78 million worldwide, far exceeding its $2 million budget and outperforming its predecessor.

In 2004, Total Film magazine ranked From Russia with Love as the ninth-greatest British film of all time, the only Bond film on the list. It was also the first in the series to win a BAFTA Award.
