Presented is a Limited Edition, Binder’s Copy of Golf Has Never Failed Me: The Lost Commentaries of Legendary Golf Architect Donald J. Ross. This special printing was published by Sleeping Bear Press in 1996 in an edition of 400 and is beautifully bound by Felton Bookbinding Ltd. It is bound in full burgundy leather boards with blind tooling to the front and back boards, raised bands, gilt titles and gilt stamps to the spine, new marbled endpapers, and a matching cloth slipcase.
From Dornoch to Pinehurst, legendary course architect Donald J. Ross is immortalized for his fine contribution to early American golf courses. Many years before his death in 1948, Ross wrote a book that was never published. Within the manuscript, Ross offered many of his thoughts on the game that he so dearly loved. In the mid-1990s, the book was miraculously rediscovered and published to great acclaim. Golf Has Never Failed Me is an insightful look at the game by one of its most famous and beloved people.
This is a must read for any golfer and a must have for any golfer regularly playing a Ross designed course. Ross’ astute observations about the game and the courses, made so long ago, still hold true today. The book is edited with an Introduction by Ron Whitten, Architectural Editor for Golf Digest, and a Foreword by Lillian Ross Pippitt, Ross' daughter. It is illustrated from numerous photographs, golf course drawings and graphs, many from historical sources.
