Golden Eagle Civil War Flag Cufflinks

Presented are rectangular cufflinks, showcasing the spectacular and very rare canton design of a vintage 34-star Civil War battle flag. The all silk, hand-sewn flag was the first flag of Company F of the 92nd New York Infantry and one of the prettiest flags we have ever had in our collection. The flag's canton design featured a gold painted, spread wing eagle, clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons.  Thirty four shimmering gold seas were painted around the eagle, representing the thirty four states in the union at this time.

The 92nd Infantry was organized in January of 1862 in Potsdam, New York. On January 10, 1862, this particular flag was presented at Camp Union to Capt. Orange Newton, then commander of Company F, by the ladies of Stockholm, NY. The flag presentation was accompanied by a brass band and a speech of acceptance from Captain Newton, thanking the ladies for this extraordinary flag.

These cufflinks are the perfect celebration of early 19th century flag artistry and would make a great gift for any flag collector, history lover, or patriotic individual.

Available in a rectangular format. Cufflink set is silver-plated. Presented in a Great Republic cufflink gift box.
