Presented is a first edition printing of Christmas is Together-Time by Charles M. Schultz. Published by Determined Productions in 1964, Christmas is Together-Time was one of the earliest Peanuts gift books and remains among the most beloved. Schulz’s simple, heartfelt text, paired with his charming drawings of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, and Lucy, celebrate the true spirit of Christmas: friendship, kindness, and the joy of being together. This small square book is notable as the earliest appearance of Schulz’s Peanuts characters in a Christmas-themed book, predating the iconic television special A Charlie Brown Christmas of 1965.
Like Happiness is a Warm Puppy and Love is Walking Hand in Hand, this title exemplifies the successful square gift-book format that brought Schulz’s characters into homes, far beyond the comic strip page. Designed by Jim Young under the direction of Connie Boucher, the book’s alternating red and green pages and bold typography complement Schulz’s art. This true first printing is further identifiable by its solid red dust jacket, preceding the more commonly found red-and-green jacket used on the second printing. Copies of the red-jacket issue are scarce, particularly in collectible condition, as Determined Productions’ later reprints were widely distributed during subsequent Peanuts holiday seasons.
CONDITION:
Near fine condition. Decorative red boards, design exactly replicated on dust jacket. Very minor abrasions along the back board at bottom and very light shelf wear. Front pastedown is separated about a ¼ inch from hinge. Small chipping to a few pages along the top corner. Otherwise, no noticeable flaws. Clean unpaginated pages, alternating between red and green colored paper.
Fine jacket. ½ inch tear along top and ¼ inch loss, minor shelf wear. Vibrant colors, mimicking board designs. Protected in mylar.
