Antique Belgian Sterling Silver Nun’s Cross on a Garnet Necklace
This antique Belgian sterling silver nun’s cross has been fashioned into a necklace by vintage jewelry designers, Intellectual Property. The front of the silver cross is engraved with the nun’s name, “J De. Clereg.” In between the name is an engraved Sacred Heart of Jesus symbol, consisting of a heart encircled by a crown of thorns, and surmounted by a cross. The back is engraved with the date “15 Augs. 1870” and is decorated with a flaming heart shot through with an arrow. The cross is presented on a strand of garnet beads, with a sterling silver toggle.
