Winston Churchill Signature with Prime Minster Envelope Mark, Circa 1940's

Clipped Winston Churchill signature in dark blue ink on off-white paper. Displayed with cut Seal of the British Prime Minister, showing the Lion, Unicorn and Crown above Latin motto of the Monarch, "Dieu et mon droit."

Winston S. Churchill (1874-1965) was British Prime Minister from 1940- 1945 and again from 1951-1955, as well as an author, artist, and a statesman. As Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill rallied the British people during WWII, and led his country from the brink of defeat to victory. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953 for his overall, lifetime body of work. In 1963, he was the first of only eight people to be made an honorary citizen of the United States.

The signature is bold, framed in a gilded window with the Seal of the British Prime Minister displayed directly above it. These elements are accompanied by two photographs of Churchill. The first, on the left, is a black and white print of a photo first taken in 1941 by Yousuf Karsh at the Canadian Parliament. The second, on the right, shows Churchill walking on the deck of the HMS Prince of Wales during the Atlantic Conference.

This signature, seal, and photographs are beautifully presented using the finest archival materials and procedures.
