Offered is a vintage travel poster from the airline company Pan American World Airways, or Pan Am. The poster dates to the 1970s and advertises Walt Disney World as one of their alluring destinations. The poster features the Cinderella castle prominently in center with "USA" written above and "Pan Am" in blue lettering at the bottom margin.
Pan American Airways was the prominent international air carrier throughout the United States starting from 1927 until its closure in 1991. First flying directly between Key West, Florida, and Havana, Cuba in 1927, the company transformed through the century to then offer "around the world" service. By the 1970s, Pan Am faced some challenges with growth as international travel grew and U.S. airlines deregulated routes. The 1970s advertisement campaign set forth by Pan Am was especially centered around highlighting images that captured cities and places to their full effect. This advertisement poster was produced in the attempt to spur interest around air travel to destinations such as Disney World in the United States.
