This is a vintage Varsity F10 baseball glove. It features a single tunnel and is a right-handed glove. The glove is displayed on a custom metal stand.
The design of this glove is quite simplistic, with one tunnel that connects the thumb and index finger. It includes the faint embossed marking that reads "Varsity F10" on the palm
Before gloves were used, baseball players played the sport with no padding or protection at all. It was not until the late 1800s that gloves were introduced, and not until the 1920s when the gloves had as much padding as was needed to play the sport without injury. By the 1920-1940s, the baseball glove featured a split-finger design that created a pocket in the center for the ball to land in.
Overall good used condition. Button closure at back. Overall wear including torn leather inside and fading. Presented on a custom metal stand for display purposes.
Dimensions: 9 1/4" H x 8 1/2" W x 2" D.
