Vintage pair of Charles Lindbergh bronzed bookends, each with a small metal plaque reading "Guardian Building & Loan Association / Home Office / Portland -- Oregon" affixed to the back side. Each bookend is inscribed "© 1929 1930 B. Arnold, Oregon, Ill." near the bottom on the back side.
This was likely a promotional item given out by the bank about three years after Lindbergh's historic flight across the Atlantic in 1927. The Guardian Building & Loan Association moved into the Gordon Hotel building in downtown Portland about 1927. The bank was placed in receivership in June 1931. This places the date of the bookends circa 1931.
Overall good condition for age and use. One bookend has a coating chip measuring roughly ½" x ½" on left side near the base.Dimensions: 5 3/4"H x 3" x 2"
