Thunderbirds Vintage WWII Aviation Movie Poster, Circa 1942

This is highly colorful original movie poster for the 1942 film Thunder Birds. A 20th Century Fox Picture, the film was famous due to its stunning aerial photography and for filming on location at a Thunderbird Field, Arizona in 1942 during the height of WWII.

The film's director, William A. Wellman, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and flew as a fighter pilot in World War I. Drawing from his own experiences, the movie successfully offers insight into the trials and tribulations of Air Force training, while simultaneously promoting airpower as a means to winning the war. 

The poster features movie stars Gene Tierney, Preston S. Foster, and John Sutton. The poster reads in bold red text "Thunder Birds in Technicolor", with blue subtext "Starring Gene Tierney with Preston Foster, John Sutton, Jack Holt, Dame May Whitty, George Barbier, Richard Haydn, Reginald Denny; Screen Play by Lamar Trotti, Directed by William A. CONDITION:

Original color lithograph, in very good condition. Paper is very healthy and color is vibrant, with very minimal fading. The poster is copyright 1942 by Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corp, and was printed by Tooker Litho. Co. N.Y. no. 7338. 

Poster has been artfully and archivally presented in a custom-built black and gold wooden frame. Framed dimensions: 46”H x 31”W x 2 1/2”D.
