Presented is the first edition of Lyndon Baines Johnson’s autobiography The Vantage Point: Perspectives of the Presidency 1963-1969. The book has been signed in black fountain pen “Lyndon B. Johnson.” It is complete with black and white photographs throughout.
A lovely first edition, this book describes Johnson’s presidency from his own perspective. Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973), often referred to as LBJ, served as the 36th President of the United States from 1963 to 1969. He also served as Vice President to John F. Kennedy from 1961 to 1963. He served in all federal elected offices, including Representative, Senator, Vice President, and President. Johnson was a Democrat and succeeded to the presidency following Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. Johnson completed Kennedy’s term and was later elected President in his own right in 1964, with his running mate Hubert H. Humphrey (1911-1978) elected as Vice President.
The book is in very good condition for age. Internal pages are clean of significant foxing or staining and the spine shows only minor edge wear. Complete with original beige dust jacket with red and blue lettering.
