The book is signed by both authors on the limitation page. The book is one of the most comprehensive studies of early literary references on golf. Developed by Alastair Johnston, the book uses a great deal of his own personal collection as reference. The book is illustrated with 48 plates from photographs, paintings, drawings, facsimiles, engravings, maps, etc., most of which are in color. The book’s map endpapers show the early golfing locations in Scotland.
