Vintage "Join U.S. Army" Shield Sign, Circa 1930s

Offered is a rare WWII era U.S. Army recruitment sign, designed by the Transportation Corp. Rail Service. This painted sign would have been displayed on rail tracks to help recruitment efforts for WWII. The sign is shaped as a shield, with a blue top, red and white stripes, and white lettering to mimic the American flag. The sign would have been nailed into a post along the train tracks to encourage onlookers to join the fight.

Good condition, especially considering use. Top and bottom screw heads are in pace. Cracking to original paint, noticeable in white areas. Slight surface abrasions. Framed according to conservation standards in a custom wooden frame.
