Ronald Reagan Signed Card from Reception Held in His Honor, 1976

This is a unique Ronald Reagan signature on a light cream card. This bold black signature was signed by Reagan, in a black ballpoint pen. The signed card is from a reception held in Reagan’s honor on March 8, 1976. The reception was held during his close campaign for the Republican nomination against Gerald Ford. Reagan twice ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for the U.S. presidency in 1968 and 1976; four years later, he easily won the nomination outright, becoming the oldest elected U.S. president up to that time, defeating incumbent Jimmy Carter in 1980. Reagan held the office from 1981 to 1989.

The collage is paired with two black and white photographs. The top photograph is of Reagan and his wife Nancy, waiving from atop the inaugural podium in January of 1981. The second photograph shows Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan along with running mate George H. W. Bush and wife Barbara Bush, photographed in Washington, D.C. during inauguration.

The card is in excellent condition. Reagan’s signature is bold and very large. The card measures 3.5” H x 5.5”W. The card and photographs are framed to the highest archival standards, presented on an acid-free black bottom mat, with sand-colored fabric top mat, UV Conservation Clear glass, and a custom-built black and gold frame. Framed dimensions are 29 3/4" H x 17 1/4" W x 1 1/2" D.
