This is a pair of hand-carved American eagles, a beautiful matched architectural set. The pair was designed to be mounted over doorways or between columns. Each eagle is displayed with wings fully extended, one faces to the right, the other to the left. The eagles grasp an olive branch.
The eagles are dated circa late 19th to early 20th century. They have been hand-gilded, which only serves to attenuate the intricate carving.
Eagles are in very good condition. The hand-gilding is original and in strong condition, with gilt still intact. A little rubbing present on back of carving, most likely from past display. Eagle Dimensions: 7" H x 32" wingspan (each).
The eagles have been artfully framed in matching custom shadowbox frames, floating on black conservation linen in brushed gold frames.
