This "Louis Armstrong" limited edition, one-of-one fountain pen was designed by miniature artist Lynn Peterson and inspired by Mardi Gras, jazz, and music legend Louis Armstrong.
Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was an American trumpet player, composer, and vocalist, and one of the most influential jazz musicians of his time. To capture the feeling of a smoky jazz club, artist Lynn Peterson painted Armstrong on the pen cap in monotone colors, save for his shimmering brass trumpet. His trumpet was painted with 24k gold paint, shining just like it would under the stage lights.
Based on Peterson’s original sketches and color palette, Eagle Pen Company crafted a complimentary pen body using a vintage Louis Armstrong 45 record. Hints of the black vinyl come through in the body. The silver “Louis Armstrong” stripe on the pen came from the original record label. Strips were cut from the 45 vinyl and laid onto the pen by hand. The entire pen is sealed with a glassy lacquer, protecting the artwork and vinyl body for generations.
Lynn Peterson, a world-renowned and accomplished miniature artist, creates special gouache and oil pen lines for Eagle Pen Company. Each pen is truly unique and requires, on average, 8 to 12 hours to complete. Lynn’s abilities to paint in such detail and to paint directly on the round surface of the pen body are unmatched.
This pen comes as a fountain pen with a complimentary rollerball writing kit. Ink for both fountain pen and rollerball are included. Pen is constructed of solid, surgical-grade stainless steel. 45 vinyl record inlay and hand-painted gouache cap with 24 karat gold paint accents. Pen is sealed in clear and black lacquers.
