This is a late-19th to early-20th century solid bronze of Joan of Arc after French artist Adrien Etienne Gaudez. The bronze is titled "Jeanne d'Arc portant son étendard" translated to "Joan of Arc carrying her standard."
The bronze depicts Joan of Arc hoisting her swallowtailed flag above her head as she points onward with her other hand. She is presented with battle plate on her chest so it can be assumed the bronze is depicting a war scene.
Saint Joan was born in 1412 in Domremy, France. At a young age Joan began hearing the voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine and St. Margaret. When she was 16 these holy voices told her to go to the King of France and help him reconquer his kingdom. At the age of 17, Joan was given a small army with which she raised the siege of Orleans on May 8, 1429.
