This is a solid sterling silver replica of a famous trophy presented to the winner of a 1911 tournament at the Chevy Chase Club (Maryland) by the U.S. Vice President James Sherman. President Taft was also present at the awards ceremony. Interestingly, the runner-up of the original 1911 tournament was Sherman's own son.
This silver trophy was modeled after the historic 1911 original and is complete with the same engraving at the center. This particular trophy was presented to the winner of a tournament that was held in 1938. The trophy includes long, arched handles and ornate finishes along the base and top.
Overall good condition. Details and engraving are clear and well maintained. No significant damage to silver, besides light discoloration.
