This is a 1949 first edition of H. H. Arnold’s Global Mission. Arnold signed the free end page and inscribed with blue ink “To Miss Ira Thomagle / May you find this book of interest / The Author - H.H. Arnold / 21 Sept. ‘49.”  The book features its original bold yellow, blue, and black dust jacket and is housed in a matching protective slipcase.

H. H. Arnold was the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force and was instrumental in the planning of aerial attacks against Japan and the daylight bombings raids on Germany in WWII. This autobiography presents Arnold’s account of how the U.S. Air Force was developed and the fateful strategic decisions made during WWII, all intertwined with his own colorful life story. Beginning with his childhood, “Hap” Arnold details his story and the events culminating with the U.S. as the greatest Air Force in the world. 

CONDITION:

Overall very good condition. The blue ink pen signature and inscription is legible. General wear to the dust jacket, as expected with age, including rubbing and chips. Dust jacket has been professionally repaired and is now housed in a protective clear mylar cover. Internally, the pages are clean and bright. Housed in a custom built matching slipcase with an inlaid portrait of Hap Arnold.
