"Fly with the U.S. Navy" Vintage WWII Recruitment Poster, 1940

Presented in an original WWII Naval aviation recruitment poster. The small poster was issued on November 20, 1940 to help recruit cadets. The patriotic poster depicts an inset illustrated image of a naval aviator in the cockpit of an airplane. In the background, a whole fleet of planes fly in formation from the deck of a large aircraft carrier. The poster text reads, "FLY with the U.S. NAVY”  in dramatic red and white letters. Below, it states that “Americans between the ages of 20 to 27 with two-year college credits should see the nearest U.S. Navy Recruiting Office."  

Naval Aviation was an integral part of WWII fighting tactics. U.S. Naval Aviation began in the early 1900s, but did not become a decisive element until the Second World War. Not just for pilots, the division needed personnel to handle complicated storage, launching, and landing processes of aircraft carriers. This poster advertises a need for men to assist with the various aspects of those processes. 

CONDITION:

Color lithographic poster. Color is vibrant and paper is healthy, with almost no toning. Light wrinkling to the paper in the poster margins. "NRB028434-11-20-40--10M" is printed at the bottom. Sold unframed, as-is. Unframed dimensions: 20 " H x 14" W.
