Duke Ellington Signed Photograph, 1932

Presented is a handsome autographed and inscribed photograph of jazz singer, songwriter, and pianist Duke Ellington, from 1932. Ellington signed and inscribed the photograph at bottom right in blue ink, "To Artie, Best wishes, Duke Ellington." The photo is dated at the bottom in an unknown hand "1932." This vintage photograph was taken by Maurice of Chicago, with the photographic studio stamp at bottom left.

Duke Ellington (1899-1974) was an American composer, pianist, and bandleader of a jazz orchestra, which he led from 1923 until his death in a career spanning over fifty years. 


In fine condition, with two small stains to the right side. This good condition is very uncommon in early photos, and this is a beauty. Matte-finish. Signed in blue ink, inscription is legible and clear of smudges. Photograph measures 10" x 8"W. Framed in a black tabletop frame.
