This is a 1963 jazz music event poster for a concert for Duke Ellington and His Orchestra in Dusseldorf, Germany on February 17, 1963.
Duke Ellington (1899-1974) was an American composer, pianist, and bandleader of a jazz orchestra, which he led from 1923 until his death in a career spanning over fifty years. He created one of the most distinctive ensemble sounds in Western music and continued to play what he called "American Music" until shortly before his death in 1974.
In white block letters on the right hand side of the poster, it reads: "Norman Franz and Reprise Present Duke Ellington and His Orchestra." Underneath is further information with names of musicians who also played at the event. All other event information is listed on the left hand side of the poster in black lettering in German.
Overall very good condition. The poster has one vertical fold line down teh center and a few minor creases throughout. Otherwise, the poster shows no notable damage. This event poster is presented using the finest archival materials and procedures and framed in a custom black frame.
