This is an original 1948, 1st edition, British Rail lithographic poster in colors by artist Norman Wilkinson -- entitled, Come to Britain for Fishing.
This striking poster print was created as a travel advertisement and would have hung in a British rail station to generate foreign tourism. Highly collected, this print was published by W.S. Cowell of London for the travel association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (tourist division of the British tourist and holiday board)." Additional text includes: "Travel Association of the U.K, of GT Britain & N. Ireland" in emblem. This bright, vivid poster is a painting of two men fishing by the river, presumably in the Scottish Highlands.
This poster is in excellent condition, having been backed onto archival linen. The overall piece still shows strong, bold colors and is presented using the very best archival procedures and materials. Presented in a closed corner gilded frame.
