Hammond's Map of the Mediterranean, Europe, and Africa, Circa 1941

This is an original WWII folding folio map of the Mediterranean, Europe, and Africa. The map was one of six foldout maps in a color lithographic folio titled "Battle Maps: Covering All War Fronts", published between 1941 and 1944.

The map is incredibly detailed and indicates Naval and Air bases, vital military resources, air raids, supply lines, and tracks mileages between key cities. The front of the booklet advertises "To Follow the Daily Tides of Battle- 90 Cut-Out Flags of the Warring Nations" which indicates the map was published with the intent to help the American populace track the progress of the War. These "cut-out" flags of United Nations, United States, Great Britain, USSR, Axis Powers, Italy, Japan are all along the right side border and still intact.

The map was printed by Amsterdam Printing & Litho Co., Amsterdam, NY, with a copyright by C.S. Hammond & Co., NY.

Map is in very good condition. Paper is healthy with full margins- no trimming. Original lithographic color still intact and vibrant. All "cut-out" flags accounted for along right side margin. Original fold lines visible but no splitting present at seams. Map dimensions:  20 1/2" H x 27" W.

Map is artfully presented in an antique wooden windowpane frame. The glass has been hand-painted with black script identifying title and key cities. Framed dimensions: 24" H x 29 1/2" W x 1 1/2" D.
