This antique Indian temperance medal has been fashioned into a necklace by vintage jewelry designers, Intellectual Property. The silver medal is engraved with the raised relief text “Total Abstinence Medal, India”around a center image of two women with water jugs under a palm tree. The reverse of the medal is engraved with the raised text “Watch and Be Sober” in the middle, encircled with the text “Total Abstinence Association. Formed 1862.” The medal is presented on a strand of multicolored stone beads, with a sterling silver toggle.
