Excellent hand-carved and painted Bellamy style American eagle, dating from the mid 20th century. The eagle is clutching a painted shield in its talons. The shield has a white ensign with blue stars, and alternating red and gold stripes. In the eagle's beak is a blue scrolling ribbon with the phrase "Live and Let Live" hand painted in white.
Both of the eagle's wings are fully extended, as if in mid flight. The wings and body of the eagle are hand gilded, and the gilt is in impeccable condition.
