1940 Map of The Southwestern United States

A highly decorative map of "The Southwestern United States". Entered into the Cartographic Section of The National Geographic Magazine, June 1940, under the direction of Gilbert Grosvenor, Editor. Map area shows the of Colorado and New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California. A decorative scroll at left contains "A Legend of Exploration", listing key explorers and surveyors and their accompanying date. Map identifies capitals, battlefields, national parks and monuments, Indian reservations, and reclamation projects. Railroads, highways, and airways are also delineated. Housed in an antique windowpane frame, with painted glass.
