1932 "Principal Events in the Life of George Washington" by General Drafting Company

Presented is the 1932 pictorial map of the principal events in George Washington’s life from the General Drafting Company. The map displays the eastern coastline of the United States with various vignettes scattered throughout. The vignettes depict the places where General Washington stayed, set up headquarters, fought in significant battles, and participated in momentous events from the French and Indian War through his years as President of the United States. Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River in 1776, his receiving of the surrender of General Cornwallis in 1781, and his presidential inauguration in New York in 1789 are all featured on the map. There is a decorative cartouche in the bottom right corner, which features flags relating to Washington’s life.

The General Drafting Company produced the map and Standard Oil distributed it to its customers in 1932. The General Drafting Company was one of the largest publishers of road maps between the years of 1930 and 1970.

CONDITION:

This colorful map is in good condition for its age. It displays only slight wear along fold lines, with areas of loss at fold intersections.
