Presented is an original comedy drama poster from 1898 for Lincoln J. Carter's "Under the Dome." The poster is a color lithograph and was published by the National Printing and Engraving Company out of Chicago.
The drama's title is printed boldly on the top of poster in bold green lettering. The base of the poster has the quote "I have order to shoot any man who pulls down this flag." Two central figures stand in the middle and appear to be fighting over an American flag.
Lincoln J. Carter was a playwright who specialized in melodramas during the later 19th and early 20th centuries. Carter's realistic staging of such dramatic events as train and ship wrecks were only surpassed by the advent of motion pictures. The comedy play "Under the Dome" started in 1897 and was performed around the country for several years.
Overall very good condition for age. No significant tears or stains. Framed according to the highest conservation standards.
