David McCullough is an American author, lecturer, and historian and a two-time recipient of the Pulitzer Prize. His book 1776 was first published in May 2005 by Simon & Schuster. The book narrates the events surrounding the American Revolution, with emphasis given to the leadership of General George Washington. McCullough details the military events of the war, including references to the Battle of Dorchester Heights and the Battle of Trenton. Color illustrations and historic maps are included throughout.
