Imagine Series: American Portraits is an original artwork by Philadelphia based artist, Stacey Lee Webber. Webber's work has been curated into the permanent collections of The Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery in Washington DC, the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts, the fine art collection of Wells Fargo Bank, the international Kamm Teapot Foundation, the Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee and numerous private art collections around the world.
American Portraits is a wall piece within Webber's Imagine Series which is composed entirely out of hand sawn coins into designs which dream up world-wide coin imagery throughout history interacting on one setting. American Portraits features contemporary and vintage coins that are sawn out with a basic jewelers saw, posts soldered on and mounted into a gridded design featuring over 200 coin figures. This meticulous coin hand-work is Webber's signature technique within her found-object artworks.
Imagine Series: American Portraits wall piece is a limited edition of 10 in which each piece within the edition is unique. No two are repeated exactly, making it a one-of-a-kind artwork. Each piece is titled, signed, and dated by the artist on the back of the piece. The stunning Imagine Series' circular metal frames are fabricated in Webber's studio with welded steel and measure 23" x 23" x 2". The dark grey metal highlight the metal of the coins in this magnificent, eye-catching artwork.
