This original poster was created by Gustav W. Krollman (1888-1962) in 1929. It features the title "North Coast Limited in the Montana Rockies." This piece advertises the Northern Pacific railroad, with their logo in the bottom left corner. The piece beautifully features a rushing train that rides along a track in the Montana Rockies.
Gustav W. Krollman produced multiple travel posters that featured western landscapes such as this one. Krollmann was born in Vienna, Austria, and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna before he emigrated to the U.S. He became known predominantly as a muralist and portraitist. By the late 1920s, he was the principal artist for the Northern Pacific Railroad. After his work in the Pacific Northwest, he taught at the Minneapolis School of Art from 1931 until his death in 1962.
Overall very good condition. Replaced upper right corner; repaired tears and creases in margins and image; very slight loss at lower left edge; water stain at lower right edge. This piece has been framed according to the highest conservation standards.
