Antique Leather Riding Saddle, Circa 1920

Offered is a vintage riding saddle dating to the 1920s. This English saddle retains its dark chestnut coloring and sturdy structure. The English saddle resembles a close contact or dressage saddle, as it is slightly skinnier and sleeker than an all purpose saddle. Though sleeker in its design, most English saddle designs served the same purpose to allow the horse freedom of movement whether jumping, running, or moving quickly across rugged terrain. With the development of horsemanship for sport, and with events such as foxhunting that required riders to jump over fences and gallop through rough land, a versatile saddle was preferred. This saddle's flaps have minimal padding. Offered without stirrups.

CONDITION:

Overall good vintage condition. No severe wear, besides obvious wear due to use. Indentations to leather, specifically along flaps where stirrup leather would lie. Dark coloring to leather intact. Sold as is.

Dimensions: 22" H x 19" W x 21" D.
