Presented is a vintage pennant from 1969 highlighting the Apollo 11 space mission. The felt pennant features a white field with the words "Apollo 11" written across it in blue and red block lettering. In the left corner is a vignette portrait of Neil Armstrong, titled "Neil Armstrong, First Man on the Moon" along side a crescent moon. The pennant also features the Apollo 11 rocket and the lettering "Cape Kennedy, Fla." in blue letters.
The Apollo 11 mission successfully landed the first two men on the Moon on July 20, 1969. This vintage pennant commemorates the feat with an image of the first man to walk on the Moon, Commander Neil Armstrong, depicted on the flag. The mission marked a major milestone for the United States and the world, and the public erupted with joy upon the safe return of the astronauts. The event was commemorated with parades, celebrations, and even pennant flags such as this.
Overall very good condition, felt pennant with bright coloring. Two orange ties on hoist side. Some creasing and slight staining around the tip. Flag has been framed with a NASA patch in a custom shadow box frame, according to conservation standards.
