This biography of Daniel E. Sickles by W. A. Swanberg is a first edition printing, signed by the author. Daniel Sickles (1819- 2014) was born in New York City and went on to lead an amazing and grandiose life. This enthralling book celebrates the unusual life of the Civil War general, a congressman who served three terms in the House of Representatives (1857-1861 and 1893-1895) and was also tried for murder, a friend of five Presidents, a diplomat, spendthrift, and a libertine. 

The book is autographed by the author for the members of the Civil War Book Club. The book is signed “W. A. Swanberg” in black ink on the full title page.  The book is illustrated with 24 pages of pictures. 

CONDITION:

Good condition. Original dust jacket, wrapped in protective Mylar. Original blue cloth boards with gilt embossed titles to the spine. Ex Libris cat bookplate from previous book owners Micke Beadle on pastedown end page. Book Dimensions: 9 ¼” H x 6 ¼” W x 1 ½”D.
