This set of Douglas Freeman's biography of Washington were published out of Connecticut by Easton Press in 1995. This collectible seven-volume set is bound in tan gilt stamped leather with green spine labels. The work of the life of the United States' first President is adorned with facsimile representations of documents written by and about the President. The documents begin with his certificate of birth as the frontispiece of the first volume. The work also contains maps and footnotes to accompany to the text.
Douglass Southall Freeman (1886-1953) was an American historian, biographer, newspaper editor, and author. He worked extensively to research the life of American figures of history, notably Robert E. Lee and George Washington. He wrote multi-volume works on the two, for both of which he was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.
Overall very good condition. No severe signs of wear or use. Bound in publisher's bindings with leather and gilt tooling. Seven volumes, octavo.
