Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was an American trumpeter, composer, and jazz legend during the mid 20th century. Armstrong was nicknamed “Satchmo,” shortened from “satchel mouth” for his large mouth. The movie “Satchmo the Great” was produced as a comprehensive documentary of Armstrong’s life. It pieces together events such as clips from stage shows, excerpts from his appearances in famous movies, and never-before-seen scenes from his personal life. Many of Armstrong’s songs are featured throughout the movie.

This poster was printed in 1957 during the first release of the film. It was printed out of Ex-Yugoslavia with title information in Slovenian, showing the expansive reach of Armstrong’s hit movie and jazz influence even in foreign countries.

The poster has been framed according to the highest conservation methods. Overall good condition, with only a minor crease across the center.
