This colorful limited edition print by Robert Taylor has been signed in the bottom margin by a total of ten Aces. The print is number 96 of 600 produced. The work features the depiction of P-51 Mustang airplanes from the Fourth Fighter Group across a cloudy sky. Formed in 1942 from the RAF Eagle Squadrons, the Fourth Fighter Group was a strong USAAF group rallied under legendary fighter pilot Don Blakeslee.
The print, based on Taylor's original painting, has been signed by ten of the USAAF Aces that flew Mustangs in Europe during WWII and totaled one hundred victories between them. It is autographed by Clarence 'Bud' Anderson, James Brooks, Donald Cummings, Barrie S. Davis, Clyde B. East, Arthur 'Art' Fielder, Robert 'Bob' Karr, George S. Loving, Steve Pisanos, and Donald Straight.
The P-51 Mustang is an American fighter plane that was used during WWII and the Korean War, predominantly. The plane was designed in 1940 and was in direct competition with Luftwaffe fighters. The Fourth Fighter Group was first to engage the Luftwaffe over Berlin, Germany.
Overall good condition. Dark signatures in pencil are intact and bold at bottom margin. No visible wear to print coloring or paper. Framed according to conservation standards in a black and gold frame.
